Nichts gegen das Standard-Design von WordPress - doch die Entscheidung ist getroffen: ich werde von WordPress auf ein anderes CMS umsteigen. Es kann sich also nur um eine kleine Ewigkeit handeln, bis es hier wieder optisch ansprechend, individuell zugeht. Das CMS der Wahl ist die Enterprise Edition 4 von Weblication. Grund für den Wechsel ist das starre Layoutgerüst von WordPress. Irgendwie zu unflexibel, zu umständlich und obendrein in letzter Zeit sehr gern ein Opfer von Updates. Sprich: Änderungen in WordPress-Versionen und Template-Tags machten bei Updates immerwieder Änderungen erforderlich. Man darf also gespannt sein :)

Nachtrag: Das könnte mich ja schon wieder aufregen: nun hab ich mich doch mal getraut ein “on-the-fly”-Update in WordPress zu machen… mit dem Ergebnis, dass er erstmal brav das Default Theme überschrieben hat. :(

My photoblog is finally back online

In late 2007 things got quite hectic, so In wasn’t able to blog. I had to finish my apprenticeship at INNdependent Media Ltd. in Rosenheim, Germany plus I was applying at some Munich based webdesign agencies. Successfully, but I had to pick that chance that showed up in december when Mr. Kippe told me that IQAir Switzerland was looking for a frontend developer for their North America branch in Los Angeles, USA. So I picked that chance, and afterwards, I’m really happy I did so. Some complicated working conditions and my relationship finally made me quit 9 months later.

The only thing I feel sad about is, that I didn’t manage to get 1) work, 2) exploring southern California and 3) blogging done at the same time. So it’s been really calm around here in 2008.

That’s also why I’m really happy right now: as I have some output to present to you, my readers. Additionally my photoblog is back up and running quite smoothly, thanks to the YAPB Plugin for WordPress. I am posting images to the date stored in the photos EXIF data what is why old images don’t show up on the front page but in a post with the date I actually took the photo. Enjoy and keep enjoying!

Work in progress: XStandard for WordPress

XStandard for WordPressI’m still working on my XStandard for WordPress-Plugin (Link). There are still a lot of bugs to be fixed and some fine-tuning needed, what keeps me from releasing the initial version to the public. But on the weekend I started using it here on my blog and I must say, that this Plugin will rock. Beta-testers and Translators are definetely welcome. So for the moment, here’s a screenshot.
